NSW: New IR body would simplify award system - Gillard

Deputy Opposition leader JULIA GILLARD .. says Labor's proposed new industrial relations
body would oversee a simplified and modernised award system.

It would also have offices in suburbs and regional centres.

Ms GILLARD and federal Labor leader KEVIN RUDD have outlined details of the giant body
.. to be known as Fair Work Australia .. which would replace a range of bodies .. including
the Australian Industrial Relations Commission .. the Office of the Employment Advocate
.. the Office of Workplace Services and the Fair Pay Commission.

She says it will function as a one-stop shop .. and will provide a safety net that
works for Australian working families.

She says the body will fix the minimum wage and will publish up-to-date pay scales
.. so every employer and every employee can know what's going on.
